The United Nations regional organization ratified its “Caribbean First” strategy in times of pandemic, during a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
UNESCO, in coordination with the Natural Resources Division (NRD) of ECLAC, organized the side event "The value of water in the 2030 Agenda ": Reality and challenges”, to promote a regional dialogue space on the relevance of water to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
On March 4 and 5, 2020, in San José, Costa Rica, the Regional Workshop " Using SDG 6 Policy Support System (SDG-PSS) to facilitate countries in Latin America and the Caribbean for water-related sustainable development" was carried out.
ECLAC’s Office in Brasilia, along with the Global Compact Network Brazil, held a “Big Push for Sustainability” webinar on May 26 in which more than 60 case studies on investments for sustainable development in Brazil were presented.
The report, developed by the Comission’s Subregional Headquarters in Port of Spain, will analyze technology uses to promote resilience building and risk mitigation, and will be available later this year.
A document edited by the organization’s Subregional Headquarters in Mexico indicates that intellectual property rules have increased the cost of access to some medicines and can jeopardize full enjoyment of the right to health, which is an especially relevant issue at this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
