Source: UN ECLAC

Year: 2009

From the document:

Hurricane Paloma struck Cayman Brac and Little Cayman severely. Its consequences have reverberated throughout the Cayman Islands and have placed a strain on the economy and fiscal pressures on government. Although the humanitarian crisis posed by Hurricane Paloma may seem weak when compared to the impact of Ivan four years ago on Grand Cayman, the consequences nevertheless present the need, beyond the humanitarian response, for a rapid assessment of the damage (impact on assets) and losses (effects on economic and social flows) to determine its macroeconomic, social and environmental consequences and its implications for the country’s fiscal stance.
