Produced on the occasion of the Third Global Biennial Conference on Small States, Saint Lucia, 26-27 March 2014
From the document:
The Commonwealth has long been recognised as champion of small states with over four decades of work in this area, placing it today at the forefront of global advocacy and profile-raising. Two thirds of the world’s small states are in the Commonwealth, and collectively they account for one quarter of votes at the United Nations General Assembly.
The Commonwealth Secretariat’s work draws international attention to sustainable economic development in small states and advocates policies and programmes that will enable these countries to overcome their vulnerabilities and build resilience.
