Assessment by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
From the abstract:
One of the key strategic activities of disaster risk management at country level is the assessment of disaster risk...The aim of the study Disaster Risk Profile for Jamaica is to assess the country’s disaster risk for Jamaica, using an appropriate probabilistic technique that takes into account the uncertainty of the process, the inevitable limitations on information and the available electronic computing capacity. The study focuses on the two principal hazards of the country; earthquake and hurricane winds. The result of the study indicates that the country would lose more than US$2 billion in value of public infrastructures when 500 years return period scale seismic event hits the county; that is more than 10% of public infrastructure in the country.
